Is the writing really free?
Yes - the entire writing experience, the library, structure and theme views, all five atmospheres, and export are free forever, with no account. You only pay when you want an intelligence reading alongside you.
What's the difference between the reader and the observatory?
The reader runs a model locally on your machine - private, offline, included with Atlas, History and the Domain. The observatory adds frontier cloud models for deeper, long-context reads and syncs across devices.
Does my manuscript leave my device?
On the room and the reader, never - everything stays local. On the observatory, only the text you choose to analyse is sent, encrypted, to the cloud model. You decide, per read.
Can I cancel and keep writing?
Always. Your files are plain and local. Cancel a plan and the writer, your volumes, and every export stay exactly where they are - you simply lose the intelligence features until you return. If you bought the reader as a lifetime purchase, there's nothing to cancel — it's yours permanently, including future reader updates.
Do I need my own API key?
No. The reader's local model ships with the plan. If you'd rather bring your own key for the observatory's online models, you can - entirely optional.
One purchase, every platform?
Yes - a plan covers macOS, Windows and Linux on all your personal devices. The observatory's sync keeps them in step.
Is the lifetime reader really lifetime?
Yes. A one-time purchase covers the reader and all future reader updates, for as long as Aevum exists. It does not include observatory-only features (frontier cloud models, sync) — those remain subscription-only.
